Edmonton Ds Clinic

Purpose:
We provide education and information to patients, families and healthcare professionals about the resources available to people with Down syndrome.

The clinic coordinator will act as a link between families and community programs to help coordinate care.

Goals:
• To focus on the potential and optimal health for individuals with Down syndrome throughout their life span.
• To work with individuals with Down syndrome and their families to support appropriate health care and health promotion.
• To help coordinate community services for individuals with Down syndrome
• To encourage community understanding of individuals with Down syndrome as valued members of their communities, schools and
society.
• To assist in the coordination of services in order to optimize the function of individuals with Down syndrome.

Who can use the clinic?
Any family of a child or adult with Down syndrome who are unsure if they are receiving all available services, are struggling to get services or just have questions regarding the syndrome can contact the clinic.

Services we provide:
• Education sessions for caregivers, families and healthcare professionals
• Resources and information about community supports and services for families
• Research and tools about Down syndrome for doctors and other health professionals
• Referrals or consultation on a case-by-case basis
