JOEY MOSS LITERACY CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE

Edmonton Down Syndrome Society thanks the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation for its generous contribution to the Joey Moss Literacy Centre For Excellence. The Centre is being developed to better support literacy in our community.

The Joey Moss Literacy Centre For Excellence will provide educational workshops, an on-site library, online literacy resources, reading coach experts, and a speech-literacy consultant.

“Basic literacy skills such as phonological awareness and whole-word recognition can improve the quality of life of children with Down syndrome [and other developmental delays] by promoting school success and independence, and the ability to be employed in adulthood."  - Frank Potter Graham, Child Developmental Institute, 2010
