CENTRE STAGE MUSICAL THEATRE PROGRAM

About the Program

The Centre Stage Musical Theatre program teaches Musical Theatre techniques to individuals with Down syndrome, ages six to adult. These students are taught the art of singing, dancing, and acting, (including a final scripted performance) with the assistance of two experienced instructors. Students can develop social skills, problem solving, cooperation and making new friends. It is an extraordinarily fulfilling experience for all involved!
Our goal for each class is to create a dynamic, fun-filled environment where students receive more than a generous dose of musical theatre techniques. We believe that for students to excel as individuals, they must learn those skills in a supportive, harmonious classroom setting, thus fostering new friendships and earning the respect of their peers as well. You may request to enroll your child in a particular class, but the ultimate decision will be up to our creative team, as we want each student to thrive in the class best suited for them.

Registration
This year we are going to have classes divided in two semesters. The first semester we will focus on the choreography, learning the music and acting skills. In the second semester students will be given a script where they will incorporate all they have learned into a true musical theatre show! There will be auditions held in January for some key roles in this show!

*Your EDSS membership must be up to date to attend Musical Theatre Class.

**PLEASE NOTE ALL DATES WHERE CLASSES ARE NOT HELD…these dates coincide with school holidays, and it is parents/caregivers’ responsibility to ensure DATS is cancelled for these dates.
